| 1571 | Georg Kleindienst senior's descendant, also a castle care taker of Wachsenegg, married to Judith von Rottmannstorff, bought the castle Birkenschein (Pürkstein) "situated at the market Pirkfeld with six houses grouped together". As a result, he built a fortification with a ring wall, which was to protect the inhabitants. Back then, the castle didn't have any corridors. The name Pürgstein (later on Birkenstein), derives from a hill nearby which was overgrown by birch trees (Birken). Anna Maria, neé Steinbeiß, married Thomas Freiherrn von Cassinedi after her first husband, Christoph von Kleindienst, had passed away. Josef Count von Steinbeiß inherited Birkenstein from his aunt Anna Maria. | |

| 1820 | Ludwig Gabriel Comte de Manneville e Vicomte de la Croix et du Mesnil 1784-1832 (Great-great-great-grandfather of the present owner) acquires the lordship Birkenstein from Franz Ritter von Schuster. Ludwig was married to Clementine Baroness von Raglovich, the daughter of the General of the Bavarian Infantry (Clemens Wenzel Baron von Raglovich). Ludwig was imperial chamberlain and good friend of Baron Gudenus, who gained the lordship Thannhausen. Ludwig Ludwig bricked up the open Renaissance hallways and built two windows per arch into the new walls. At the same time, during this baroque era, all doors and door frames had been removed. The family Manneville had been chevaliers of the king of France and his close confidents and had also been in England with Wilhelm the conqueror, where the Manneville built the white tower in London in 1135 (Sir Geoffrey de Mandeville, commander of the tower with his own Mandeville chapel in the white tower). At the time of Richard Lionheart, the Mandeville settled down in the north-east of London as the Counts of Essex. Gabriel Ludwig's father, Gabriel Francois Comte de Manneville, commander of the French King's guard and his advisers, married to the Comtesse Adelaide Le Duc, had to leave France during the revolution. Thus, the Manneville received higher French annuities and Ludwig XVIII paid back the 25.000 Livres he had loaned. | |

| 1903 | Johanna Reichsgräfin Wurmbrand - Stuppach, her daughter, marries Marchese Antonio Tacoli, who inherited the castle Schieleiten from his father Achille Marchese Tacoli. | |
| 1916 | Antonio Tacoli died from war injuries in the military hospital. He gained great fame for being the first man, who refused a duel in the Austrian military service. The duel was a thesis written by his great-grandchild Olivia Princess Thurn & Taxis. | |
| 1934 | Johanna's second-eldest son, Gherardo Tacoli (1911-1996) continued the management of Birkenstein together with his mother. | |
